"It isn't a film about wanting to hide or run away its a film about getting out there and seeing what is beyond the small Horizon" -Adam Stew.
Escape The Waves is a new movie created by the film company P.A.L Productions for those of you who don't know P.A.L was created in 2012 and was set up by Pepper Black, Adam Stew and Leon Stew. The company wanted Create films that people could connect with and resonate with "We want to widen he audiences eyes not because the final villain was killed but the villain was presented in a human like way"- Adam Stew. They have created such art works: A Life With Me, Everyone Dies and John.
Their most Recent work was Escape The Waves a film that has really Caught our eyes. The Film focuses around a relationship between 3 syblings, 2 blood related and 1 not. The problem is they have no clue who isn't blood related and with their mothers passing they have no start. Their auntie was sent to look after them, a cold woman who is unapproachable mainly because of her abusive and neglected childhood tries to push her beliefs on to the 3 siblings. Erica March is the oldest, she is reserved and suffers with neurological disorder but still wants to make the most of her life. Her brothers Paul March wants his and Ericas dreams of moving to london and being a film star which their auntie March thinks is ludicrous, Their auntie has a secret which involves her being in debt and needs the money of taking care of the children before they turn 18 to pay it of which is why she won't let them escape. Ethan Is hell bent on finding out who is not the blood related sibling where as Erica and Paul just except each other and don't want to find out.
We asked Adam Stew the ideas and Creativity in Escape The Waves. "SeaBurn beach plays a big role in the film. If you pay close attention the sea reflects the mood weather the tide is in or out. The sea is a metaphor of Erica feeling trapped, if the tide is in we see her at her worst and when its out she is a lot more confident and energetic. We chose to film at Seaburn as i is a well known place, It's where we all went as children to play and we even have aspects of our child hood in this movie. We wanted to include some real life problems in this film to help connect to the audience, some teenagers ages 17-20 feel a bit out on the way into adult hood and sometimes feel trapped, we used Erica's dream to leave can't happen because of her disorder and we want to reach out to those teenagers who also feel trapped and want a way out. We incorporated proper advice and help lines in this movie as well."-Adam Stew
"I think it's hard for woman to get into the film industry not a lot of girls are interested and I think the main reason is lack of creativity all the recent Hollywood films have many similarities, good guys, bad guys, happy ending, unrealistic gun fights, cheesy motives. I think our film has no real villain because in life you will find a auntie March who comes across as mean and uncaring but like, there is always a reason behind them being that was which doesn't make them necessarily evil"-Pepper Black.
We think Escape The Waves is a great movie and a must see it has gotten a tone of great reviews and will be airing at Tyne side cinema and Costumes.
